Medical Services in Elyria
Xcell Medical Group has a team of qualified medical providers that can assist with many different medical services. Our team works with each patient to create a personalized health care plan. Below are some of the services we offer.
Diagnostic ultrasound is a technique used to visualize muscles, tendons and many internal organs. The ultrasound can detect the size, structure and any pathological lesions with real time imaging tools. The information we receive from an ultrasound can help us better understand our patient’s conditions and symptoms.
Ultrasound has been used for more than 50 years and is the most widely used diagnostic tool among medical professionals. Ultrasounds are fairly inexpensive and portable, as well as much safer than other techniques. Two minimal side effects that people might see include an enhanced inflammatory response and soft tissue heating.
A joint injection is used to treat inflammatory joint conditions such as arthritis, gout, bursitis, tendonitis and osteoarthritis. The injection is performed by inserting a needle into the affected joint and distributing an anti-inflammatory agent. The most common of these is a corticosteroid. This technique can also be used to remove any excess fluid from around the affected joint.
Medical Directed Rehab
The staff at Eastside Medical Group often uses medically directed rehab programs to help patients improve wellness and enrich their lifestyles. These programs are comprised of health education, therapy, and medical exercise programs catered to the needs of each patient.
Nerve Conduction Study
A nerve conduction study is used to examine the electrical conduction abilities of the motor and sensory nerves in the human body. These studies are usually used for evaluation of paresthesia and/or weakness in extremities. Some common disorders that can be diagnosed by using these studies include:
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Guillain-Barre syndrome
- Spinal disc herniation
- Ulnar neuropathy
- Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy
Trigger Point Injections
Trigger point injections are used to treat muscles are that in pain or contain knots and cannot relax. Most times, trigger points within the body can irritate the nerves around them and cause pain elsewhere in the body, known as referred pain.
A trigger point injection is done by injecting a solution through a small needle into the troublesome area of the body. The solution is comprised of a local anesthetic that causes the trigger point to become inactive and thus, pain is alleviated.
Injections are given at a doctor’s office and usually only last a few minutes. The injections can be used to treat various different muscle groups in the body including arms, legs, back and neck.
A supartz injection is comprised of a highly purified sodium hyaluronate solution that is injected directly into the knee joint. This solution helps restore the knee and gives cushion and lubrication to the joint. These injections are often used to treat osteoarthritis in the knee or to provide relief to those who have not found any success from using painkillers or exercise.
An x-ray is a form of electromagnetic radiation that is used to view bones, joints and some soft tissues more clearly. Our staff uses X-ray to better evaluate the health of our patient’s bones and come up with a more accurate diagnosis of a condition. The images can be used to diagnose things such as fractures, dislocations, congenital anomalies, bone infections, arthritis conditions and tumors. At chiropractic appointments, x-rays of the back and neck are usually taken. If needed, more diagnostic tests such as MRIs or CAT scans can be ordered to pinpoint the problem. Diagnosing the problem is our first step in getting our patient’s on the path to better health.
